BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — It is apparently easier to steal merchandise from Victoria’s Secret at Boca Raton’s Town Center Mall than it is at any other store in the area. In what is the latest example: Boca Raton Police nabbed two men and a woman who are now accused of stealing $9,000 worth of underwear from the store. This is the latest of several thefts from Victoria’s Secret at Town Center Mall in the past several months.
In this incident which happened late Friday, police tell us:
Officers and detectives met with Victoria’s Secret Loss Prevention manager Osmany Benitez. Benitez, who had called police as the theft was happening, described the theft, the merchandise that was taken, and gave a detailed description of the suspects. Benitez said two male suspects got into a Nissan Sentra and the female suspect got into a Cadillac Escalade. Officers located the suspects at a nearby gas station and identified them as Danny Torreira, Leonidas Herrera and Michelle Feliciano.
Feliciano told officers that Herrera was her nephew, but denied any involvement in any theft. Torreira refused to speak with officers. Herrera admitted to officers that the three of them would work in concert stealing merchandise using a booster bag. Benitez identified the three suspects as the suspects who stole the merchandise. Herrera admitted to committing two previous thefts with Feliciano; one on May 25th and the other on July 19th.
Officers recovered over $9,000 in stolen merchandise from the Nissan Sentra, which was rented by Feliciano. Detectives charged Herrera and Torreira with grand theft and using an anti-shoplifting device. Feliciano was charged with grand theft and distracting a merchant during the offense. Feliciano and Herrera were also charged in the earlier crimes, with two counts of retail theft and two counts of conspiracy to commit retail theft.
