Palm Beach County Elementary School Worker Busted

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Turns out the Lunch Man at an area elementary school may have been on the take. The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office tells us that Steven Clarin — a former Palm Beach County School Cafeteria Manager — has been arrested and is charged with two counts of badness. We remind you that folks are innocent until proven otherwise, but here’s the rundown from State’s Attorney Mike McAuliffe:

State Attorney Michael McAuliffe announces the arrest and filing of criminal charges against Former Palm Beach County School District Cafeteria Manager Steven Clarin on November 10, 2011, for the following criminal offenses:

 

1 Count      Organized Scheme to Defraud §817.034  (3 F)

– Maximum Allowable Sentence: 5 Years Prison

1 Count      Grand Theft §812.014 2c  (3 F)

– Maximum Allowable Sentence: 5 Years Prison

 

The probable cause affidavit states and alleges that the defendant was employed as the cafeteria manager at an elementary school in Boynton Beach.  The defendant was responsible for collecting and depositing funds from the cafeteria sales into a bank account for the Palm Beach County School District.  During the months of September and October of 2011, the defendant appropriated approximately $1,500.00 for his personal use from the funds that he was obligated to deposit for the Palm Beach County School District.

 

The case is assigned to Assistant State Attorney John J. Parnofiello of the Public Integrity Unit.  The lead investigator is Detective Kevin McCoy of the Palm Beach County School District Police.
