BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — BocaNewsNow.com likes to promote Boca-area businesses whenever possible, so we smiled Monday morning when our friends at Blue Ivy Communications — a respected South Florida PR firm — told us about their “connection” to the baby of the day — Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z’s baby named “Blue Ivy.” (It also sounds like the hospital where Blue Ivy was born could use the PR expertise of the Blue Ivy Communications. Here’s why).
From Blue Ivy: Potentially the best Public Relations move ever…South Florida-based PR and Communications company BlueIvyCommunications (www.blueivy.co) shares name with power couple Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z (Sean Carter)’s new baby girl “BlueIvy.” While in actuality, BlueIvyCommunication’s (and all of the other Blue Ivy companies out there) probably did not influence Beyonce and Jay-Z’s decision, the attention has been great. Since news of the baby’s name broke, BlueIvyCommunications has seen its Twitter following grow exponentially; Friends and business colleagues have been posting all over Facebook immediately thinking of BlueIvy and questioning whether BlueIvyCommunications can sue; inquiring about the meaning behind the words “Blue” and “Ivy”; and all have congratulated BlueIvyCommunications founder and president Melissa Perlman on her great foresight.
While we can’t say exactly why Beyonce and Jay-Z chose the name Blue Ivy. Reports are saying the color blue is Jay-Z’s favorite and the number four or IV is meaningful. For BlueIvyCommunications, the meaning behind the name is simple:
· Blue: Melissa Perlman’s mother Susan Perlman was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and passed away two short years later. As not only Melissa’s mom, but her best friend as well, it was important that Melissa’s new company referenced and recognized Susan. Born with hazel eyes, Susan wished for and dreamed of having blue eyes while growing up. While her own eyes never changed to blue, Susan’s two daughters (including Melissa) got them – despite the small likelihood according to genetics!
· Ivy: Melissa is a 2004 graduate of Brown University, a member of the Ivy League. It was important for Melissa to pay homage to her college where she gained independence, experience and lots of knowledge! Go Bears!
