The BocaNewsNow domain, with suffixes other than .com, are now forwarding to the Boca Tribune.
BocaNewsNow is a registered trademark of MetroDesk Media, LLC, and is on file with the State of Florida. We have not authorized any other publication or entity to use our intellectual property. We are in the process of initiating legal action against the newspaper's publisher, Douglas Heizer.
BocaNewsNow.com is the number one Boca-based online provider of local news and information. The Boca Tribune is barely a blip on the independent Alexa review of website traffic. Attempts to forward our traffic to that site have apparently not helped it at all.
We built this website from the ground up. It had no visitors on its first day a little over a year go. We are now past one million. Local readers view our pages thousands of times each day. We worked hard to achieve success, to become Boca's source for news, and never thought of stealing someone else's name to do so.
BocaNewsNow.com founder Andrew Colton is a respected award-winning Journalist, a former network news correspondent and is frequently heard nationwide as a Wall Street Journal radio host. In years of broadcast and print journalism, he never worked for organizations that believed it was okay to steal other people's work. The thought of stealing domains from other media outlets in an attempt to generate pageviews never crossed our minds. It's not how we do things.
We believe that legitimate competition is healthy. Legal issues notwithstanding, the domain-forwarding action of the Boca Tribune is unprofessional and desperate. We believed that such a newspaper would be above dirty tricks.
We were wrong.
We look forward to Douglas Heizer releasing the domains before our attorneys have a chance to dot their i's and cross their t's.
