Smash and Grab at West Boca Raton Daycare

BOCA RATON, FL ( — A woman picking up her child at La Petite Academy off Glades Road in West Boca inexplicably left her purse and cellphone on the front passenger seat when she went to retrieve her child, only to return minutes later and find the window shattered and wallet and cellphone gone.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office tells that the woman, “Stacie,” reported the smash and grab in the middle of the day — and that police were unable to find the stolen property or develop a suspect description.

Thieves routinely target daycare and preschool locations throughout the area as they are often easy targets — parents frequently leave valuables in plain view when they pick up or drop off their kids.

Police tell us that the thieves use stolen credit cards at gas pumps which only require a home zip code — information easily obtained from a stolen drivers license.
