Disaster Planned For This Weekend In Boca

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Don't be alarmed if you hear sirens Saturday morning in the area of Don Estridge Middle School on Spanish River Blvd., as several disasters will be simulated for rescue worker training.

Community Emergency Response Teams from Palm Beach County, a cadre of civilians trained in disaster preparedness and response will participate in a four-hour disaster preparedness evaluated training drill on Saturday, January 11, 2014. The training drill is designed to enable participants to demonstrate basic CERT skills, enhance their capabilities, and hone their skills so that they can help their family, friends, and neighbors following a disaster.

The Palm Beach County CERT Training Drill will consist of multiple scenario stations where CERT members will engage in various training activities. The scenario stations will consist of fire suppression, medical operations, light search and rescue operations, and team organization utilizing Incident Command System (ICS) concepts.
