SCAM? Charity Boxes Placed Illegally In West Boca

West Boca charity boxes

This box which appears to be collecting shoes and clothes for charity is placed illegally and displays no official contact information.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The white boxes popping up all over Boca Raton and West Boca seeking donations of clothes and shoes may be part of an elaboarate scam. There is no contact information on the boxes, no charity is listed, and now police are at least peripherally involved.

An official notice is now visible on the box placed at the Publix in the Loggers Run shopping center, telling whoever owns the box to move it — that it’s placed illegally.

We’ve also seen similar boxes on Clint Moore Road east of 441 and other locations throughout the region.

If you have clothes to donate, BocaNewsNow.com advises that you find a legitimate receipt-giving organization such as Goodwill, the Salvation Army, or any of the organizations that truly help people throughout the region.

Placing clothes and shoes in a big white box that says “clothes and shoes” is probably not a great idea.
