Boca Public Library Sponsors Clyde Butcher Exhibition

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The Boca Raton Public Library is very pleased to announce the exhibition of Clyde Butcher’s “Cuba~ the Natural Beauty,” a series of black and white photographs of Cuba’s natural landscape, which will be on display at the Downtown Library from October 1, 2014- January 10, 2015. The exhibit was funded by a generous donation from The Friends of the Boca Raton Library.
In 2004, Clyde Butcher was invited by the United Nations to photograph Cuba’s natural landscape for the Conference for Sustainable Habitat of the Mountains. For three weeks, Butcher, his expedition team, and his large format camera traversed the Cuban mountain ranges. As he explored the eastern province of Granma, the waterfalls of the Serra de San Juan, and the region of Pinar del Rio, Butcher captured these lands with the same techniques and vision he used to photograph Florida’s Everglades. His continued commitment to environmental awareness and stewardship is evident in these luminous and dynamic black and white photographs.
Mr. Butcher will present a slideshow and a lecture about his trip and photographs on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. A book and calendar signing will follow the presentation. Seating is limited for this registered event. Online registration begins on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at bocalibrary.org
“The Boca Raton Public Library is very excited to welcome back Clyde Butcher to the library, and to our community,” said Ann Nappa, Manager of Library Services. “Thank you to the Friends of the Library who continue to support our mission for community enrichment through our Art in Public Places space.” The exhibit is free and open to the public.
