UPDATE: From Palm Beach County Fire Rescue: “At approximately 8:20 this morning, PBCFR Units were dispatched to the 9600 block of Boca Gardens Circle in western Boca Raton for a reported residential structure fire. Initial arriving units found a quad-plex apartment building with heavy black smoke and flames coming from one unit. Firefighters rapidly entered the building and were performing a search of the residence within 6 minutes of being dispatched to the call. One person was found in the affected apartment. Tragically, they were pronounced dead on scene. A second person was transported to a local hospital. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the apartment of origin. PBCFR has multiple Fire Investigators currently on scene. “

Firefighters responded to the area of 9600 Boca Gardens Circle North around 8:30. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue dispatched multiple units to the scene of the multi-family apartment complex. One person was found dead in the burning unit. Another person was hospitalized.
It was not immediately known what caused the fire. A fire investigator was dispatched to the scene. Firefighting efforts — including clean up operations — continued into the early afternoon.
