MONROE COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Both major roads in and out of the Florida Keys are CLOSED Thursday night Friday morning as uncontrolled fires are burning. U.S. 1 and Card Sound Road are impassable and closed by fire rescue personnel. The “167 West Fire” is just 25 percent contained as of 5:30 a.m.

Although firefighters are on the scene, expect closures to continue throughout the night. The small amounts of rain over the past several days have done little to alleviate the drought and extreme burn conditions. The Florida Department of Transportation is reporting the following emergency alerts as of 8:45 p.m. Thursday:
