BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The annual mega-event in Boca known as the “Boating and Beach Bash For People With Disabilities” is this weekend. It is a huge event — considered to be one of the largest in the nation — for people with disabilities, their loved ones, friends and caregivers.

WHAT:  IN WHAT MANY REFER TO AS, “THE MIRACLE ON THE INTRACOASTAL,” AN EXPECTED 5000 TO 6,000 MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN, WITH ALL TYPES OF DISABILITIES, WILL BE HOSTED TODAY BETWEEN 10:00 AM AND 3:00 PM AT THE LARGEST, FREE, FUN EVENT IN THE NATION FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, THEIR CAREGIVERS AND FAMILIES. 
 
THIS 5TH ANNUAL DAY IN THE SUN, WHICH IS HELD AT SPANISH RIVER PARK ON STATE ROAD A1A IN BOCA RATON, FEATURES YACHT RIDES ON 20 PRIVATELY OWNED BOATS DONATED FOR THE OCCASION BY THE MEMBERS OF BOCA’S FAMED ROYAL PALM YACHT AND COUNTRY CLUB.  THE DAY ALSO OFFERS A COMPLIMENTARY BARBEQUE LUNCH WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS, WHILE OUTSTANDING  ENTERTAINERS, LIKE AMERICAN IDOL’S BRETT LOWERNSTERN, NASHVILLE HEART THROB TIM CHARRON, KENDRA ERIKA, CARA YOUNG AND RISING STAR YAZ JADE, WILL ROCK THE PARK ALL DAY LONG. 
 
AN INTERACTIVE TENTED PROMENADE ZONE WILL SHOWCASE 22+ S. FLORIDA FOUNDATIONS AND CORPORATIONS OFFERING GOODS AND SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CHALLENGES.  AT THE KIDS FUN ZONE, FAMEDINTERNATIONAL ARTIST MICHAEL ISRAEL WILL TEACH YOUNGSTERS PAINTING SKILLS AND TRICKS OF THE TRADE THAT BEST SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS.
 
ALREADY RECOGNIZED AS THE NATION’S FOREMOST FREE EVENT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, A HIGHLIGHT OF THIS YEAR’S BASH INCLUDES THE CHANCE TO CATCH A RIDE ON FIDELITY IV, A HEAD TURNING SPEED BOAT ONCE OWNED BY PRESIDENT GEORGE H.W. BUSH, OR TO STEP OR BE LIFTED ABOARD THE ELEGANT MIZNER’S DREAM, THE VENERABLE MOTOR YACHT OF THE FAMED BOCA RATON RESORT AND CLUB, SAID TO HAVE CARRIED MORE THAN A MILLION PASSENGERS AS THE RESORT’S WATER CARRIAGE BETWEEN THE MAIN CLUB AND BEACH CLUB. THE CLASSIC YACHT HAS BEEN FULLY RESTORED TO HER FORMER GLORY. ALL RIDES LAST APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF HOUR

WHERE:  Spanish River Park, A1A in Boca Raton, between Spanish River Blvd and Palmetto Park Road
 
WHAT’S HAPPENING?  Free admission, parking and beach access for the day at Spanish River Park. Free hotdogs, burgers, chips, and beverages, live band, supervised yacht rides under the direction of the US Coast Guard and City of Boca Raton Lifeguards, an Exhibitor’s Zone, Kid’s Fun Zone, and so much more.   Hundreds of volunteers from the public and private sectors will be on hand to welcome and host guests, their caregivers and families
 
WHY:  This is the 5rd year that community volunteers have given so much of themselves to host a FREE event that celebrates diversity in South Florida.  The event salutes area residents and visitors with cross disabilities, their families and caregivers. The volunteers raise every penny, all of which goes to this event. There are no salaries. There are no profits.  There is only a shared sense of joy and deep satisfaction that we are making a difference.
