Boca Raton Man Killed In Fort Lauderdale Plane Crash

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — A Boca Raton man was among the three killed Friday when a small plane crashed into a warehouse just after takeoff from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department:

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating a plane crash thatoccurred on Friday, March 15

th at approximately 4:20 P.M. The crash occurredin the 5200 block of Northwest 9th Avenue in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a small twin turbine, PiperCheyenne, Model PA-31T, propeller plane crashed into a paved lot used to storerepossessed vehicles. The plane struck several unoccupied vehicles withoutcolliding with any of the nearby buildings.

The Fort Lauderdale Fire Department Technical Rescue Team responded to thescene and extinguished the fire. Members from the

Medical Examiner’s Officeresponded to the scene to gather evidence to assist in expediting theidentification of the victims.

Fort Lauderdale Police Department Detectives and Crime Scene Investigatorsare working alongside the Federal Aviation Administration and the NationalTransportation Safety Board to conduct this meticulous investigation.

Investigators have preliminarily identified the passengers on this aircraft as pilot,Steven Waller, W/M, 06/04/47, a resident of the City of Deerfield Beach, Wallis

“Wally” Watson, W/M, 08/10/46, a resident of the City of Boca Raton and KevinWatson, W/M, 02/22/83 a resident of the City of Pompano Beach.

The names of the three occupants will be confirmed by the Broward CountyMedical Examiner Office upon completion of their evaluation.
