BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Temple B’Nai Israel is the place and December 17th is the date to spend time with famed attorney and legal scholar Alan Dershowitz.
Professor Alan M. Dershowitz will address the topic “Inside Israel Today” during a speech at Congregation B’nai Israel on Tuesday, December 17 at 7:30 pm in the Cohen/Friedkin Sanctuary. The event will coincide with Professor Dershowitz’ 50 years as a law professor at Harvard University as well as the release of his autobiography, Taking the Stand: My Life in the Law.
Professor Dershowitz, is the author of 30 fiction and non-fiction works with a worldwide audience, including The New York Times #1 bestsellerChutzpah and five other national bestsellers. He has also published more than 1,000 articles in magazines, newspapers, journals and blogs such as The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Harvard Law Review, the Yale Law Journal, Huffington Post, Newsmax,Jerusalem Post and Ha’aretz.

Dershowitz is the second of four events in Congregation B’nai Israel’s first annual Speaker Series. We also hope that the Speaker Series helps to foster and enhance the Jewish identities of its members.” Future events include Dr. Maya Angelou who will speak on Thursday, January 16, and a film screening and panel discussion of “50 Children: The Rescue Mission of Mr. & Mrs. Kraus” in partnership with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum on February 6 at 7 p.m.

Alan Dershowitz has been called “the nation’s most peripatetic civil liberties lawyer” and one of its “most distinguished defenders of individual rights,” “the best-known criminal lawyer in the world,” “the top lawyer of last resort,” “America’s most public Jewish defender” and “Israel’s single most visible defender – the Jewish state’s lead attorney in the court of public opinion.” He is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Dershowitz, a graduate of Brooklyn College and Yale Law School, joined the Harvard Law School faculty at age 25 after clerking for Judge David Bazelon and Justice Arthur Goldberg.
