BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Media Advisory) — From synagogues, partner agencies and schools, from different generations, from longtime leaders and donors of all ages to newcomers – on February 3, 2015 at Boca West Country Club, hundreds from throughout South Palm Beach County’s vibrant, diverse Jewish community will be coming together for a third year to acknowledge and celebrate all the good we do together. They’ll also hear from Larry Miller, popular film and television actor known for unforgettable roles in Pretty Woman, Best in Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld and far more.
THE EVENT is sure to be a night that will make them even prouder. The festivities will kick off at 6:30 pm with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and a showcase of the Jewish community’s wealth of resources.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m., amid the celebration, the program will remind the audience of how much the South Palm Beach Jewish community’s help means for neighbors and the global Jewish family. They’ll also hear about recipients whose lives have been changed through this assistance will inspire as it demonstrates the power of this community to make a difference. In his own humorous way, Larry Miller will tell us his Jewish journey amid anecdotes from his decades as an actor and comedian in the entertainment spotlight on both large and small screens (see Larry Miller’s bio below).
“Last year, THE EVENT sold out early, with 750 people from throughout our vibrant, diverse Jewish community experiencing the sheer joy of coming together to celebrate how, together, we are able to do so much for so many,” said Debbie Weisman. “With an even wider array of synagogue, school and agency partners and committed volunteers, even more of our neighbors are moved to come together this year to revitalize and rededicate our community’s efforts – so we urge everyone to register quickly at jewishboca.org/theevent.”
Weisman and her husband, Roy, are part of THE EVENT’s 2015 leadership team as co-chairs with Lisa and Bob Marton, and with Founding Chairs Debra & Larry Halperin.
“There’s a real renaissance taking place in our Jewish community, and THE EVENT will celebrate and amplify this growing awareness, pride and joy in how – together – we accomplish so much to FEED, PROTECT, TEACH, INSPIRE, SAVE and COMFORT so many,” said Bob Marton. “It is an amazing opportunity to feel and celebrate our collective strength – and our unsurpassed potential to do even more.”
“With joy and humor, THE EVENT will bring our community together to inspire even more help for our Jewish family,” said Joan Garde, who has generously underwritten Larry Miller’s appearance in loving memory of her husband, Joseph Garde. “As we celebrate, it is also vital to educate and engage even more people, especially younger ones, to pass our commitment to future generations.”
This very special night benefiting the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County will offer great food (dietary laws observed), entertainment and company for a couvert of $95 per person. A minimum household contribution of $365 to the 2015 Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County Annual Campaign is required to attend THE EVENT.
