UPDATE: 9:17pm Friday: Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that the man seen above may be the same man accused of robbing a bank — also on Jog Road — two weeks ago. The Third Federal Bank of Delray — in the 15000 block of Jog Road — was hit at roughly the same time of day. Unclear if surveillance and security are now being increased at other banks in the area, including PNC Bank and Wells Fargo, both are within blocks of the attempted robberies.
UPDATE: From Police: Detectives from the Boca Raton Police Services Department are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Suntrust Bank on Jog Road around 1:00 pm Friday afternoon. The suspect is described as a white male 40-50 years old, 5’9” and approximately 200 lbs. He was wearing a tan baseball cap, faded green button down shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, sunglasses and multiple bandages across his nose and upper lip.
The suspect was holding a pink accordion wallet. The suspect grabbed his pocket indicating he had a weapon, but no weapon was seen by bank employees. The suspect left on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective Tim Kurdys at 561-338-1377 or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 800-458 TIPS
UPDATE: From the scene… Suspect is a white male…no weapon was shown. Yellow police tape blocks the front of the Sun Trust on Jog just north of Clint Moore. Police are on the scene. Employees appear to be inside the building. The FBI traditionally responds to bank robberies and attempted bank robberies. Unclear if agents are yet on location. It appears unlikely this branch will be open for normal business today.
