BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Source: PBSO) — Shortly after 10:00 am, this morning, a deputy working an off duty detail in the Boca Landings subdivision checked out with a suspicious vehicle occupied with an unknown female in the passenger’s seat. Upon approaching the vehicle the deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. The female occupant was detained while a records check was being completed. As the deputy was completing the records check the female fled on foot. The deputy followed after her. As he was attempting to regain custody of the female he fell and injured himself and she continued to flee.
After a search by road patrol, K9 deputy’s and the helicopter the female was located near Verde Pointe Lane, Boca Raton.
The search led to the lockdown of Whispering Pines Elementary School.
The female/juvenile, 17 years of age was charged with Escape While In Lawful Custody, Resisting Arrest Without Violence, Burglary and Obstruction by Disguised Person (she gave a false name).
She was transported to a local hospital to be cleared for minor injuries then taken to the JAC Center for processing.
The deputy received minor injuries to his knees.
