Parents Asked To Comment On Controversial Third Grade Lesson Plans

News

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Parents of students entering third grade in several Palm Beach County Schools are being asked to comment on what many consider to be a controversial lesson plan. The “Core Knowledge Arts (CKLA)” program is an often superficial, poorly crafted system in place in many Palm Beach County Schools which turns teachers into regurgitating robots instead of professionals allowed to adapt to the specific needs of their students.
From the school district:

We value your input!  The School District of Palm Beach County is reviewing Grade 3 Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) materials for consideration to use for the 2018-19 school year in the following 16 schools: Banyan Creek, Barton Elementary, Cypress Trails, Del Prado, Diamond View, Indian Pines, Jupiter Farms, Orchard View, Pine Grove, Pioneer Park, South Olive, Starlight Cove, Sunrise Park, Verde, Waters Edge, and Whispering Pines.

The District encourages parents and community members to review materials being considered.  If you are interested in reviewing these materials, please contact Vivian Holcombe,  Vivian.holcombe@palmbeachschools.org  (561) 434-8015.  Materials will be available to review through April 15, 2018.
