Our readers reach out after Best Buy Boca tries to sell one Airpod for $220.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — BocaNewsNow.com readers say they’ve had enough of Boca Raton’s Best Buy — from horrible service to the bizarre experience we experienced last week. If you missed it, Best Buy attempted to sell us one — that’s one, like a singular — Airpod for $220. Apple says it should have been $60. You can buy a complete set for (two airpods and a case for $160).
The incident has generated reader email which we’re holding — for now. Let’s just say it isn’t pro-Best Buy.
We asked our readers several years ago — when it looked Best Buy was going bankrupt — what would be a better use of the property on 441 just north of Glades Road. Clearly Best Buy is having issues if the store is marking up a price by nearly 4x — it’s just illogical that a major company would do this under normal circumstance. So we’re asking again — with a follow up.
Question 1: What would be a better use of Best Buy’s building on 441 north of Glades Road?
Question 2: What have you experienced in the store?
For those joining us late: we wouldn’t have normally dealt with Best Buy for an Apple issue. That’s like going to a Yugo dealership to have your Tesla fixed. But Apple made an appointment and sent us there out of convenience, only to have the Geek on duty tell us that “while Apple considers us an authorized provider, we don’t follow Apple’s pricing.” Apple quickly resolved the issue — expressing dismay that Best Buy was playing this game.
With Target and WalMart now selling TVs, cameras and other higher-end electronics, is Best Buy even needed? Sure, it’s a great place to test out products before buying them from Amazon, but what other purpose does Best Buy serve in 2019? Write us at news (at) bocanewsnow.com. Let us know your Best Buy story.
