Jewish Federation’s Major Fundraiser Is Sunday

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Source: verbatim press release) — Sunday, April 7, will be a most important ONE DAY for the Jewish community, with three great ways to get everyone involved through the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County.

“Every spring, Federation has a Super Sunday phone-a-thon where volunteers make calls to those living in Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Highland Beach,” said ONE DAY Co-Chair Jeff Bovarnick. “This year, Federation has made the day so much more special. We have added an array of Jewish Community in Action hands-on volunteer projects at local service organizations and two Chocolate Seder Pre-Passover Family Experiences. At the end of ONE DAY, we will have the incredible satisfaction of knowing, that together, we accomplished so much for our Jewish community. Get involved, join us, and enjoy the amazing experience!”

The ONE DAY activities are offered free of charge, and registration for all is quick and easy at jewishboca.org/oneday.The phone-a-thon and Chocolate Seders will take place at the Federation, 9901 Donna Klein Blvd., Boca Raton. The Jewish Community in Action projects will take place throughout the area.

SUPER SUNDAY PHONE-A-THON

As always, hundreds of passionate volunteers will work side by side making thousands of calls to make a difference in the lives of so many – locally, in Israel and throughout the world. They’ll be ringing out from a lively, festive atmosphere in two shifts, from 9:30 am-12:00 pm and 5:00-6:30 pm. 

Raffle prizes, breakfast, snacks and great camaraderie will make the day fun for the volunteers. Newcomers and seasoned callers are most welcome, and training is available. And with a $25,000 match from the Jacobson Jewish Community Foundation on all new or increased donations, volunteers can see the results of their efforts double!

JEWISH COMMUNITY IN ACTION AT HANDS-ON PROJECTS THROUGHOUT THE AREA

“Everyone is invited to make a difference at an array of hands-on Jewish Community in Action volunteer projects throughout the area from12:30-4:30 pm. There is no cost to participate, and students will receive Community Service Hours, as individuals, as a family or with friends,” said Rabbi Josh Broide, Director of the Deborah and Larry D. Silver Center for Jewish Engagement of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County.

“Whether they’re interested in bagging or serving food, gardening, playing games with seniors, cleaning up the beach, or more, they’ll be surrounded by the inspiration and energy of joining their Jewish neighbors from all across the community to make a real difference.”

PJ LIBRARY® CHOCOLATE SEDER PRE-PASSOVER FAMILY EXPERIENCES 

“Families are invited to join PJ Library® for a free Chocolate Seder and pre-Passover Experience everyone including newcomers will enjoy,” said Elana Ostroff, local PJ Library Director. There are two opportunities: 2:00-3:00 pm for families with children ages 3-8, and 3:30-4:30 pmfor families with children ages 8-12. “We are thrilled to offer our Chocolate Seders on ONE DAY, among our many opportunities for young families to get together throughout the year,” added Ostroff. “Of course, families will also be able to sign up to receive free high quality Jewish books right at home every month; families with children ages six months through eight years can sign up at jewishboca.org/pjlibrary, and those with children ages nine through eleven can register at pjourway.org.”

By participating in ONE DAY, volunteers will also be joining millions of volunteers around the world for the 2019 Good Deeds Day on April 7.Now in its thirteenth year, Good Deeds Day has grown from 7,000 participants in Israel in 2007 to, in 2018, nearly 3.5 million volunteers in 100 countries taking part in 20,000 projects, and providing more than seven million hours of service.
