DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Source: BSO) — Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating the fatal crash between a car and a tractor-trailer which occurred May 5 in Deerfield.

Just before 1:30 a.m., Joseph S. Dipersio was traveling southbound in a 2001 Honda Civic in the right lane on Powerline Road approaching the intersection of Southwest 10th Street.

Trava Monroe was driving a 2015 Freightliner tractor, traveling westbound in the center lane of Southwest 10th Street approaching the intersection of Powerline Road.

Both vehicles proceeded into the intersection. The front passenger side of Monroe’s trailer struck the driver side door of Dipersio’s Honda.
The impact caused both vehicles to move into the eastbound lanes of Southwest 10th Street. They came to final rest on the southern grass shoulder of Southwest 10th Street.

BSO Deerfield Beach Fire Rescue transported Dipersio to Broward Health North with life-threatening injuries. He died at the hospital.
Monroe remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
