CORONAVIRUS: Stop Believing The Facebook Mom’s Group In Boca, Delray

Coronavirus News

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Officials across the area are getting increasingly frustrated with a “Facebook Mom’s Group” focused on the Boca Raton/Delray Beach/Boynton Beach areas. Comments in the group led to a strong response from the Palm Beach County School District last week. Later in the week, rumors about happenings at West Boca Medical Center were immediately discounted — rebuked by health officials.

The rumors were inflammatory and just plain wrong.

And BocaNewsNow.com has learned that posters in the group are at it again, claiming first hand knowledge of outbreaks in several Boca Raton communities.

While it’s reasonable to assume that folks in Boca do have Coronavirus, there have been NO OFFICIAL CASES testing positive as of mid-day Sunday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

As medical professionals, as the health department, as the Palm Beach County School District, as several police and emergency response agencies have made clear over the past few days: DO NOT GET YOUR INFORMATION FROM FACEBOOK. DO NOT BELIEVE PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO KNOW THAT THEY KNOW SOMEONE WHO KNOWS SOMEONE.

Email us at news(at)bocanewsnow.com. Call the Florida Department of Health 24 hour information line at 1-866-779-6121 for information.

But stop listening to people on Facebook who know absolutely nothing at all.
