BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — An early morning look at the ICU census for Palm Beach County reveals a slightly better picture than what we’ve seen in recent days. The key word is “slightly.”
As of 7:01 a.m. ET on Saturday, August 8th, 2020, 25.9-percent of all ICU beds in the county are available. Health officials say anything below 25-percent is cause for concern.
There is a notable standout: three of West Boca Medical Center’s five pediatric beds are in use — that is a recent high. However, the Florida Department of Health is not breaking out why ICU beds are in use — it is unclear if the pediatric ICU beds are used by children with COVID-19 symptoms or something totally unrelated.
