Luz Zidziunas Jailed After Incident In Her Home

BOCA RATON, FL ( — Boca Raton resident Luz Zidziunas allegedly made a bad situation worse on Thursday when she pepper sprayed her husband as he was trying to discipline their daughter.

According to a police report reviewed by, the couple has a daughter who “has a mental illness which was causing her to scream in the hallway and while alone in her room.” As the girl’s dad tried to calm her down, the couple’s other daughter tried to help. But the dad told her to go to her room — which she apparently was unwilling to do. So the dad tried to “escort her to her room in a non-violent disciplinary manner,” according to the police report.

That’s when the situation went from bad to worse. According to police:

“Luz Zidziunas said (her husband) ‘chased’ the girl around the apartment and grabbed her hair, so she sprayed (her husband) in the face with a chemical agent. According to Luz, no other acts of violence were committed during the incident.”

Wrote police: “Based on my investigation, my observation of (the victim’s) irritated eyes/face, the statements provided, and the overall totality of the circumstances, I found probable cause to charge Luz with simple battery. Specifically, Luz actually and intentionally touched or struck (her husband) against his will by spraying a chemical agent in his face. Luz was placed under arrested and transported to the Boca Raton Police Department for completion of arrest paperwork. She was then transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.”

Luz Zidziunas, 38, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 11:07 p.m. Thursday night. She remains in jail mid-day Friday. Bond has not yet been set. The incident occurred in the 400 block of East Palmetto Park Road.

  1. Dealing with a mentally ill person of course is never easy at all. On the other hand, it’s just another example of how the mentality I’ll people and their obviously overwhelmed family members-if they still have them, along with other caregivers are in fact left to their own right or wrong way how to deal with these obvious people in need of help. All it seems in the so-called modern age, how we still deal with these poor individuals is appalling. The only ones getting real help, are the politicians who say whatever sound good to what group their pontificating to for votes or donations. Yes there are people who mean well and a (very) few groups that try to make a difference, but sadly there in the very small minority. Palm Beach County doesn’t lack funding, but real mental health is not “sexy” In 2020, it’s simply a disgrace to the people and their caregivers who really need REAL help and meaningful guidance, otherwise it’s business as usual
