The son punched her in the face to stop the assault.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reports that Catherine Colavecchio, 49, was booked into jail on February 13th where she remained until mid-day Valentine’s Day.
According to the affidavit of probable cause: “(Colavecchio’s girlfriend) stated that Colavececchio had been drinking alcoholic beverages all through the night and was still drunk until the morning of the incident. (The girlfriend) had asked Colavecchio to go back to bed to get some sleep and then advised that Colavecchio “went crazy.” Colavecchio allegedly began yelling, screaming, and throwing objects around the residence. She then approached (the girlfriend) and began to push her, causing redness to her upper chest area and lower front portion of her neck. (The girlfriend) stated that she was intentionally, unlawfully, maliciously and forcefully struck by Catherine Colavecchio with a closed and clenched fist against her will on the upper right portion of her forehead, which also caused redness.”
The police report continues.
“After the altercation between (the girlfriend) and Colavecchio, (the girlfriend’s son) interjected himself to defend his mother. The son stated he began yelling at Catherine Colavecchio, telling her that she needed to find a better way to communicate. At this point, Colavecchio allegedly got into (the son’s) face and began yelling at him as well, asking him what he was going to do about it. She then unlawfully, intentionally and maliciously took hold of him by the hoodie he was wearing at the time against his will, proceeded to shake him around and would not let go. (The girlfriend’s son) then said she struck him in the face approximately one or two times as he told her to get off of him. (The girlfriend’s son) then advised he managed to get Colavecchio into a headlock with his right arm, while Colavecchio proceeded to elbow him with her left arm in the torso area. (The girlfriend’s son) was then able to “slam” Colavecchio on the floor while she clung to his hoodie and continued to try and repeatedly punch him. Colavecchio then sustained two closed fisted strikes from (the girlfriend’s son) which caused the 1.5 to 2-inch laceration on her face. (The girlfriend’s) son stated he delivered the strike in self defense.”
Catherine Colavecchio was treated at West Boca Medical Center before being transported to the Palm Beach County Jail. A hearing is set for March 8th. A no-contact order is now in effect — she has to stay away from her girlfriend and that woman’s son. Colavecchio lists the 7000 block of Sierra Drive East as her home address.
