Rachel Ginsberg was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Tuesday morning. She was released later in the day on $1,000 bond.
From the police report, which you can in its entirety below or here.
“On March 28, 2021 at approximately 2052 hours, I responded to the Trader Joes parking lot located at 855 S Federal Hwy Boca Raton, FL in reference to a 3-year-old boy walking alone in the parking lot. The 3-year-old boy was wearing a large T-shirt and had no pants or underwear.”
“Upon the arrival of police, the 3-year-old was later identified as running through Trader Joe’s parking lot without the company of an adult. (Witnesses saw) him wearing a blue shirt and no underwear or pants. Rachelle Ginsberg was observed standing outside her vehicle by the driver’s door. Officer Desiderato arrived at the scene first and observed (the child) running back and forth from the driver’s side into the traffic lane in the parking lot. Rachelle had no urgency to stop (the child). She told him to stop but her movements were very slow and without care or concern for (the child) getting hit by a car.”
Rachel told police that she was exhausted after taking care of the child by herself, but a police investigation revealed that story to be untrue. From the report:
“When I asked Rachel why she fell asleep she stated that he is exhausted and has not slept in two days. She went on to say that she has no help with her alone in her apartment. When talking with Rachelle she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or an unknown drug. Her movements were slow and lethargic and her speech was slurred. She would sway back and forth when standing. Rachelle stated she did not have anything to drink or take any type of narcotic. She also stated she is not prescribed any medication. Rachelle estimated that she fell asleep for approximately 15 minutes when I asked her that question.”
“After questioning Rachel further, it was discovered that she was lying. Rachel does not live alone and does have help with care for with her and they each on separate days, Rachel then stated that she did have a couple alcoholic drinks while at Bedner’s Farm.”
DCF was contacted and when officers were removing clothes from the vehicle, they allegedly found an empty wine bottle underneath clothes on the front passenger seat.
Ginsberg was charged with child neglect and transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.
