BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Long Island man is facing a battery charge after allegedly assaulting a family member at Mario’s on Glades Road in Boca Raton.

Julian Pagan of the 200 block of Herricks Road in Mineola, New York, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Friday morning. He was released Friday evening on his own recognizance.

BocaNewsNow.com obtained the police report from the disturbance at the popular Boca Raton restaurant. The following language is written by the investigating officer. We have redacted or eliminated certain victim information per our editorial policies.

[Police report starts here]: On 04/29/2021 at approximately 2058 hours, I responded to 1400 W Glades Road (Mario’s) in reference to a physical domestic.  Upon arrival, fellow officers met with [redacted].  [Redacted] stated he was in a physical altercation with his son, W / M Julian Pagan (DOB 05/26/1997).  The father stated Julian was in Mario’s for some time and has been drinking throughout the night.  The father noticed Julian escalating regarding his intoxication level of him and wished to speak with him outside.  While his father and Julian were outside, the conversation escalated creating a verbal disturbance.

Julian’s mother went outside to calm down the emotions between the two.  She put her left hand in front of Julian and Julian slightly shoved his mother’s hand away to summarize the verbal altercation with his father.  The father then approached both Julian and Julian’s mother to create some distance between the two the eliminate escalation.  Julian’s father put one of his hands out to create space and non-intentionally, touched Julian in the chest.  Julian’s father stated the touch was not to harm Julian, just to simply create some distance to protect Julian’s mother.  Julian then fell on his own doing his due to his intoxication level.

Julian then sat up and “charged” at his father.  While doing so, Julian shoved his father with both hands in the chest area.  Julian then attempted to punch his father with his right closed fist and grazed the bottom half of his father`s chin.  The Father then grabbed ahold of Julian to restrain him with both arms around his person from any further physical altercation.  This caused Julian and his father to be crouched by a nearby bench.  Julian was attempting to wrestle his way out of his father’s grip and fell onto the ground several times.  Julian suffered from a small abrasion on each knee.  Julian denied BRFD`s response to the scene.  The father did not suffer from any visible injuries.

Julian initially admitted to BRPD he shoved his father for getting in his face and later retracted his statement.  Based on the interviews gathered from all parties, Julian’s father was attempting to restrain Julian from physical escalation, which resulted in Julian punching and wrestling his father.  Based on my investigation and Julian’s uttered confession, Julian was placed under arrest for simple domestic battery F.S.S 784.03 (1A1).  Julian was placed into handcuffs, which were double locked and checked for fit.  Julian was then turned over to Palm Beach County Jail without incident. [Police report ends here].

A court date is pending. Probable cause was found by a judge on Friday. Pagan is currently prohibited from possessing alcohol, drinking alcohol, and having possession of weapons.
