DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Raton resident Jared Pittinger is facing multiple drug charges following a routine traffic stop in Delray Beach.

Police say they stopped Pittinger in the area of Atlantic Avenue and I-95 for a vehicle equipment issue, but ended up smelling — and finding — drugs.

This is the narrative of the arrest from Delray Beach Police:

“I was on routine patrol in the area of I-95 and W Atlantic On 6/13/2021. At 2156 hours, I observed a white Nissan Altima with a tag light out. I initiated a traffic stop and the driver and sole occupant of the car identified himself as Jared Pittinger (WM 8/27/1977) by Florida driver’s license. Upon making contact with the Pittinger, I smelled a strong odor coming from the vehicle, that through my training, knowledge, and experience, I knew to be marijuana. Pittinger admitted to having marijuana inside the car. Search incident to arrest, I located a clear bag with a white powder substance in the right cargo pocket of his shorts. Through my training, knowledge, and experience, I suspected the substance to be powdered cocaine.”

The report continues: “During the tow inventory, I located a One A Day Vitamin bottle in the glove box of the car. Inside the bottle were 23 small individual bags with a white rock substance that I also suspected to be cocaine. A clear bag with a green leafy substance that Pittinger admitted to being marijuana was located in the center console.”

Wrote the arresting officer: “Post Miranda, Pittinger stated “No Comment” when I asked about the vitamin bottle. I utilized an agency provided Lynn Peavy test kit and the suspected marijuana yielded a positive reaction to THC and the white rocks yielded a positive reaction to cocaine. Based on the aforementioned facts, probable cause exists to charge the defendant with Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, pursuant to F.S.S. 893.13 (1A) and Possession of Marijuana-Less than 20gm, pursuant to F.S.S. 893.13 (6B).”

Pittinger, 43, of the 100 block of NW 7th Street in Boca, was booked into the Palm Beach County at 1:26 a.m. Sunday. He was released on bond at 2:01 p.m. A court date is pending.
