BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues to fight masks and accurate reports that hospitals are packed, the Department of Health and Human Services just released stunning data from the weekend.

Florida logged 28,316 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday and 28,317 cases on Sunday, for a total of 56,633 COVID case recorded since Friday.

The totals for both days were just released in the 5pm hour Monday. The Saturday and Sunday case counts are the highest during the entire pandemic for the State of Florida. The seven day moving average of positive cases is now 22,484.

Florida’s positivity rate is now twenty percent.

The death count continues to soar as well in Florida. HHS says 100 people died in Florida from COVID-19 on Saturday. On Sunday, 113 COVID deaths were recorded. That brings Florida’s COVID-19 death count total to 39,934. It is likely that Florida will pass 40,000 deaths today.
