DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Five pink air fresheners were apparently not enough to mask the alleged smell of alcohol emanating from Matthew Beuka.
Beuka remains in the Palm Beach County Jail Tuesday morning following his arrest for DUI on August 20th. It was his second DUI arrest in August. Beuka was first charged with marijuana possession, and DUI, by Delray Beach Police on August 11th.
According to a Delray Beach Police Report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, this is what led to the traffic stop:
“An Officer observed a white 2012 Audi on SW 4th Avenue facing south at the intersection of West Linton Blvd. The Audi made a left turn (east) from a designated straight/right turn only lane. There was a left turn only lane clearly marked on the roadway. The Audi made a U-Turn int he 300 block of West Linton Blvd. and proceeded west. The Audi then made a right turn (north) onto SW 8th Avenue.”
This is what police say happened during the traffic stop:
“I smelled an odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from Beuka. I smelled an air freshener scent and observed six pink tree air fresheners on the dash and rear view mirror. Beuka’ s eyes were red and had a glassy appearance. Beuka’s pupils were dilated and slow to react to changes in light. Beuka’s speech was slurred. Beuka’s statements were not making sense about where he was coming from and why he was following another vehicle. After exiting the Audi to perform roadside tasks, Beuka swayed in a circular motion while standing still. While Beuka was standing still behind the Audi, I continued to smell an odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from his person.”
“Beuka stated he was at a ‘Crypto Meeting’ prior to driving. Beuka stated he was following another vehicle driven by a girl he asked out. Beuka stated she did not know where she was going which did not make sense why he was following her. Beuka stated the meeting was on ‘Delray Avenue.’ I asked where ‘Delray Avenue’ was Beuka replaced it was the main avenue in Delray Beach.” (There is no Delray Avenue).”
According to police, Beuka ultimately provided breath test results of .101 and .105. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
Beuka is now charged with DUI Breath Alcohol .008 or more, failure to use a designated lane, not carrying a drivers license, and failure to change address on his drivers license.
He lists Sundy Avenue as his current address.
