BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Popular East Boca Raton restaurant ”Flanigan’s” was cited for fleas and other issues during an inspection on November 29th. The restaurant was NOT required to shut down. It received a passing inspection days later.

These are the issues documented by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. We use DBPR’s official language, edited only for spelling.

High Priority – Live, small flying insects in dishroom. Approximately 20 live flies on walls in dishroom separate from kitchen. Approximately 10 live flies on clean utensils in dishroom separate from kitchen. Operator eliminated flies, 2 live flies remain Food contact surfaces cleaned and sanitized **Repeat Violation**

High Priority – Time/temperature control for safety food, other than whole meat roast, hot held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit. At cookline steam table, cooked chicken wings (112-121°F – Hot Holding). Items prepared less than 1 hour ago. Item reheated to 165°F to hot hold **Corrective Action Taken**

Intermediate – No paper towels or mechanical hand drying device provided at handwash sink. At dishwasher station HWS. Paper towels supplied **Corrected On-Site**

Intermediate – Probe thermometer not accurate within plus or minus 2 degrees Fahrenheit. At walk in cooler, 2 probe thermometers used in chicken and mushrooms read greater than 2 degrees higher than inspectors calibrated thermometer. Thermometers discarded and replaced. **Corrected On-Site** **Repeat Violation**

Basic – Buildup of food debris/soil residue on equipment door handles. At walk in freezer.

The restaurant was reinspected on December 2nd, 2021. Only one “basic” violation was found on that date.
