BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An unidentified person drowned Sunday morning in West Boca Raton.

Palm Beach County Fire Radio dispatched the drowning call at 11:16 a.m. to the 11000 block of Island Lakes Lane. A dive team — within minutes of the initial dispatch — declared a “Signal 7” which indicates a deceased individual.

It was not immediately clear if the person was found in a pool or a canal. While there does not appear to be a canal at the specific address used as the dispatch location, there is a canal on the opposite side of the street.

Rescuers recovered the body and declared there was no need for a second dive team.

We have requsted additional information from Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and will update when it is received.
