BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Boca Raton Police Department wants you to know that it is not selling shirts, and they are most certainly not on sale.

The police department is warning of a scam that is spreading by text. According to the PD, scammers are sending personalized messages with this language:

“Dear (your name), Boca Raton Police Department shirt $10 Off ready to order now.”

Officials are asking you to delete the text if you receive it, or ignore any posts or tweets that contain similar language. The police department is a law enforcement agency, not a clothing distributor.

We also note that it’s illegal in Florida to possess anything that makes you appear to be a police officer if you are, you know, not a police officer.
