BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County School District just crossed the 11,000 COVID case mark, logging 11,048 cases since the school year began. The number seems unfathomable based on previous case counts. The entire 2020-2021 school year saw just 3,855 cases — and that was considered astronomical.
Among the schools with the most reported cases: Olympic Heights High with 204; Boca Raton High with 171; Spanish River High with 163; and West Boca Raton Community High with 163.
Meantime, the United States Department of Health and Human Services reports that 69 people died in a Florida hospital on Sunday from COVID-19. There are currently 10,794 inpatient beds in use for COVID-19 patients in Florida hospitals. That is a very slight decrease over previous days.
In Palm Beach County, the seven-day testing positivity rate is holding high at 25.99 percent, but new hospital admissions are trending down. 609 people have been admitted to a Palm Beach County Hospital, for COVID-19 treatment, over the past seven days. 15,075 new cases have been logged by health officials, in Palm Beach County, turning that time frame.
