BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you are heading to Fort Lauderdale Airport this morning, be prepared for delays on Federal Highway, the main road into the airport. A fatal crash not far from the airport at roughly 3 a.m. is leading to delays.
From the Broward Sheriff’s Office: “At approximately 3:06 a.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office Airport District deputies responded to a single vehicle crash near the area of South Federal Highway and Griffin Road within the airport district. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue also responded, and the driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene.
Traffic homicide detectives were notified and are investigating the circumstances surrounding this crash.
The southbound lanes of Federal Highway at Griffin Road in that area are shutdown till further notice as detectives investigating. Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes. The investigation continues.”
