UPDATE 1:12 PM — Florida Highway Patrol says the incident occurred on I-95 near 595 which is Broward County, not Boca Raton. That’s where a dump truck hit a pedestrian this morning. Haskins was apparently staying in Boca Raton which is what led to multiple sources saying the death occurred in Boca.

From FHP just after 1 p.m. on Saturday: “The identity of the 24yo/male is Dwayne Haskins Jr. DOB 5/3/1997, NFL American Football Quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mr. Haskins was walking on a limited access facility (Highway/expressway) for unknown reasons. He was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when there was oncoming traffic.

Unfortunately, he collided with an oncoming dump truck. Mr. Haskins was pronounced dead on scene. This is an open Traffic Homicide Investigation.

No further information will be released until the investigation has been closed.”

UPDATE: Death is confirmed. Details are pending.
