UPDATE: May 2, 2022: PBSO says Efrain Garcia-Proveda died on April 26, 2022.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the crash that closed Military Trail for several hours Saturday afternoon near the Boca Delray Country Club.

Efrain Garcia-Proveda of Plantation, according to PBSO, was traveling northbound in a Honda Civic on Military Trail in the center lane. Aaron Latham, 46, was driving southbound on Military Trail in a Honda Odyssey. Police say Garcia-Proveda crossed over the center median into Latham’s path. Garcia-Provdea struck the left front of Latham’s car.

Efraim Garcia-Proveda, 49, was rushed to Delray Medical Center for critical injuries. Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that he was unconscious at the time he was being transported.

Latham, and a passenger in his car, were treated for minor injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time.
