BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton man allegedly hit a man on a moped in the area of U.S. 441 and Sandalfoot Blvd. He was then seen fleeing when police arrived on the scene.
Witnesses told the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office that Erick Diaz hit the moped early Tuesday evening, saw the driver fall to the ground, then drove off while screaming ”F-You” and giving the finger to the now-injured moped driver lying in blood on the street. Police, according to the report, saw his Kia leaving the scene and a Foster’s Beer can being thrown from the window.
After the victim was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, a deputy kept his eyes on Diaz’s apartment at 1100 NW 13th Street. When Diaz arrived, PBSO made contact.
“Erick stated that he was traveling in his vehicle southbound on SR7 approaching Sandalfoot when someone struck his vehicle. Erick further advised that after the impact he stuck around for a short period of time without making contact with the police or anyone else and then proceeded to leave the area. He stated that he was involved in some sort of traffic accident.”
Erick Diaz was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. He remains held on $3,000 bond.
