BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Broward County man apparently setting off fireworks managed to sever his hand from his body early Saturday morning.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that the man was using fireworks in the 4400 Block of North State Road 7 in Central Broward when the incident occurred. BSO and Broward County Fire Rescue responded to the scene to apparently find the hand, but not the man. The man, authorities later learned, had been separately rushed to an area hospital.
Broward County Fire Rescue took the hand to the same hospital as the man, but it’s unclear if the two were reconnected. The man’s identity has not been released at this time.
Area rescue agencies are again reminding everyone that fireworks are dangerous, should be left to professionals, and that once your hand is separated, there’s no guarantee that it can be reattached.
