BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A new study just out by Rocket Mortgage reveals that while most Floridians tolerate living in communities controlled by Homeowner Associations, fewer than half of those surveyed like it. Roughly 45 percent of all Floridians live in a community controlled by an HOA.

The study, released Monday, reveals that only 43 percent of those questioned say they ”like” having an HOA. Of the 1001 HOA residents and board members questioned, 49 percent said they are likely to buy in an HOA neighborhood again, 26 percent were neutral, and 25 percent said they are unlikely to buy in another HOA community.

When asked if their neighborhood is better or worse than they thought it would be with an HOA, 47 percent of homeowners questioned said they think it’s better, 25 percent were neutral, and 28 percent said it’s worse.

An eye-opening result from the Rocket survey: 37 percent of BOARD MEMBERS said they dislike have an HOA, while 31 percent of homeowners in HOA communities said they believe their HOA board has too much power.

Two more fun facts: 10 percent of homeowners questioned said they are considering selling their homes for HOA-related reasons. And… 40 percent of homeowners and 19 percent of HOA board members believe their HOA board is incompetent.
