As stores struggle to survive in an Amazon-led world, the Simon Properties-run (NYSE: SPG) Town Center Mall is doing everything it can to push customers away. One of the most frequent complaints we receive about life in Boca Raton: shoppers bringing dogs into a place made for humans.
Tipsters Saturday shared images and reports of a woman in Nordstrom letting her dog run free. There was no leash. The dog ran wild through part of the store. The woman, seen in the photos, didn’t seem to care. She just called for her cutey patootie to come on back.
Meantime, in Saks, the couple seen in the photo above brought a hairy dog into the Men’s Department — just yards from cashmere suits retailing for thousands of dollars. While the woman used her phone, the man looked at shoes. No one looked at the dog. Except other shoppers — and sales clerks — who couldn’t quite understand why this dog was in the store.
