BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton teen is dead after police say he crashed his motorcycle into a bus in the area of 2100 North Powerline Road in Pompano Beach.

Phillipe Madeira, 19, of the 9400 block of Boca Cove Circle in Boca Raton, was heading southbound on North Powerline Road approaching Northwest 21st Street as a Ford Paratransit Van — run by Broward County — was heading north on Powerline at the same time. The Paratransit Bus driver, “proceeded to make a left turn onto Northwest 21st Street,” says the Broward Sheriff’s office. “As the bus made a left turn, the Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Madeira, crashed into the passenger side of the bus. The bus came to a stop and Madeira was ejected from the Kawasaki.”

The bus driver was not injured and there were no passengers on board. Madeira was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say speed on the part of Madeira may have been a factor.

The Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts reports that Madeira was cited for speeding in 2019 while driving with a learner’s permit. He was fined $1000 while adjudication was withheld.
