Boca Bagel Bar Shut By Health Inspector, Roaches, Insects

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Bagel Bar at 4251 North Federal Highway was shut down by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation after an inspector documented several high-priority violations. The restaurant was allowed to reopen the following day.

Per BocaNewsNow.com policy, we are publishing the actual text of the DBPR inspection report from the initial inspection on September 22, 2022.

High Priority – Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Approximately 5 live roaches in box of parchment paper for sheet trays in kitchen. Box discarded 2 live roaches in closed air conditioning room Approximately 10 live roaches on floor in dry storage room Approximately 5 live roaches on wall in dry storage room.

High Priority – Raw animal food stored over/not properly separated from ready-to-eat food. At walk in cooler, smoked salmon stored over pastrami and corned beef. Item moved to lower shelf **Corrected On-Site**

High Priority – Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area, food storage area and/or bar area. Approximately 25 live flies under dish machine in kitchen Approximately 5 live flies landing on clean reusable lids under slicer in kitchen Approximately 10 live flies landing on speed rack with wood bagel boards across from cookline in kitchen.

Basic – Label on a food item prepared and packaged onsite for customer self-service does not include product identity/description, date product was packaged and name and address of the establishment that prepared and packaged the food. At cream cheese in front cooler. **Repeat Violation**.

Basic – Food stored on floor. At walk in cooler, chicken, onions and bottles of sauce stored on the floor. Items moved to shelving **Corrected On-Site**.

An inspection on September 23 resulted in just one “basic” violation. The restaurant was permitted to reopen. This is the text of the follow-up report:
