BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman was allegedly three times the legal limit when she provided breath samples to police following a crash on Jog Road.

According to a police report just processed by the Clerk of Courts and reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Suzanne Silvers of the 1400 block of NW 50th Drive was involved in a crash 5100 block of Jog Road early Saturday morning. After concluding the crash investigation, police initiated a “DUI” investigation and wrote the following:

I explained to Silver that based on her inability to maintain her balance while standing, the strong odor protruding from her person, and her slurred speech, I had reasons to believe that she was operating a vehicle under the influence.

After explaining my observations, I then asked Silvers if she would like to participate in a series of field sobriety task to dispel my alarm that she is driving under the influence. Silvers stated no. I then re-explained to my observations to Silvers stating that if she opted not to participate in the field sobriety task, I would have to make a determination whether or not to place her under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence. After explaining the task to Silvers multiple times, she would not provide a decision.

Silvers was transported to the Boca Raton Police Department booking facility where she was processed. (Another Officer) arrived at the booking facility and conducted the breath test utilizing the Intoxilizer 8000. I asked Silvers to provide a lawful test of her breath for determining its alcohol content. Silvers was unable to provide an answer. I then read Silvers implied consent.

After reading implied consent, I asked Silvers to provide a lawful test of her breath for determining its alcohol content. Silvers agreed to provide a breath sample. Silvers breath results were .246, .224 and .214. Silvers was provided a court date of Monday November 14th, 2022, at 0830 hours. Silvers was transported to the Palm Beach County jail for final disposition.

The legal limit in Florida is .08, making the .246 result more than three times the legal limit. Silvers allegedly kicked an officer during her arrest. She was additionally charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. Silvers was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on $3,000 bond.
