BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A reminder from the Palm Beach County School District: there is no school on Tuesday. This has nothing to do with the approaching storm, but everything to do with the fact that many schools are used as polling places on Election Day.

For the past several years, all public schools have been closed to avoid the general public being anywhere near students and teachers. It is considered to be an extreme security risk.

When students return on Wednesday, the question will be what happens for the rest of the week. All area school officials — both public and private — are closely watching the early phase of Storm Nicole, and will decide later in the week of the system merits school closures.

The system may reach minimal hurricane strength and plow into Palm Beach County Wednesday night into Thursday.
