DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — For the second time in just a matter of days, a major retailer doing business in South Palm Beach County nabbed an alleged shoplifter after watching the alleged shoplifter allegedly shoplift on camera.
The latest: Shaun Coletto of Ocean Blvd. in Boca Raton. According to a police report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Coletto targeted Target at 1200 West Linton Blvd. According to police — documenting information provided by the store’s loss prevention team — Coletto filled up his shopping cart like he was on a TV game show, but neglected to pay for anything as he quickly exited and tried to load up his car.
But a Target Loss Prevention officer says he watched the whole thing happen before calling Delray Beach Police. This is part of the narrative filed by the responding Delray Beach police officer:
“On 11/05/22 I was dispatched to 1200 W Linton Blvd (Target) in reference to a shoplifting in progress. The Target Loss Prevention Officer notified dispatch that the suspect was fleeing the store and was walking to the back of the store. The Target employee stated that it was a white male, wearing blue shorts and a blue shirt. Upon arrival to the rear of Target, I made contact with a suspect that matched the description of the shoplifter. The suspect was approaching his vehicle, with the shopping cart full of the Target merchandise next to his vehicle. I immediately detained the suspect. The suspect identified himself as Shaun Coletto.
The Target employee stated that Shaun entered the store at 16:33 and began shopping around the store. The employee stated that he watched Shaun and approached him as he passed all points of sale without paying with the cart full of merchandise. The employee stated that Shaun ignored his attempts to stop him from leaving the store, and continued to head toward his vehicle.
The merchandise that was taken from Target was the following: GMC Headset priced at $299.99. Dyson priced at $499.99. Air filter priced at $15.29. Pet Toy priced at $7.99. Probable cause exists to charge Shaun Coletto with FSS 812.015(8) Shoplifting/Retail Theft over $750.”
Shaun Coletto was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on $3000 bond, we note more than the total value of the allegedly stolen merchandise. The arrest follows a situation at Macy’s in the Boca Raton Town Center Mall where a woman was allegedly captured on camera just days ago stealing several items. She was later arrested.
