BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County School District annouced early this morning that longtime Chair Frank Barbieri, Jr. was just re-elected to his leadership post, with Karen Brill serving as Vice Chair.

But just after 10:30 Tuesday, the School District issued an updating, stating that the election would need to be “redone.” The election is internal only — and does not require voters to return to the polls. The Palm Beach County School District explained the issue with this language:

“Upon further review, the School District has determined that today’s election of the School Board Chair and Vice Chair must be redone on November 30, 2022. While Frank Barbieri and Karen Brill did each receive a majority of the votes for Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, policy requires 4 votes or more of the seven-member Board.”

Barbieri, an attorney, has served four terms on the school board. He announced previously that he will not seek re-election when his post is up in 2024. Karen Brill was first elected to the school board in 2010.
