BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An early morning wreck near Whispering Pines Elementary School in West Boca Raton sent two people to the hospital and remains under investigation.
The crash was first reported around 7:15 Friday morning at the intersection of Lyons Road and Spanish Isles Boulevard. There is no traffic control device that intersection which is often dangerous due to the speed of cars on Lyons Road and the huge amount of morning and afternoon traffic generated by parents trying to get their kids to and from Whispering Pines.
BocaNewsNow.com has learned two cars collided at the intersection causing significant damage to the vehicles. One woman — a 55 year old — was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. She was rushed to Delray Medical Center as a “trauma alert.” The cars are identified as a Tesla and a Hyundai Elantra.
A 14-year-old boy was also injured in the crash. He was taken to West Boca Medical Center and later released. Sources connected to the investigation say he was “shaken up” but not otherwise injured.
