DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A woman believed to be in her early 40s was found face down in a swimming pool in the Delray Bay apartment complex around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The woman, believed to be on drugs, was given Narcan by Delray Beach Police. Despite efforts by police and Delray Beach Fire Rescue, the woman died at Delray Medical Center early this morning.
Rescuers arriving on location at the apartment complex near U.S. 1 and Delray Bay Blvd. also found a man in need of medical assistance. He allegedly told rescuers that he and the woman were ingesting narcotics before the woman ended up in the pool. The man, also suffering from breathing issues, was also given Narcan by rescuers. He is expected to survive.
It was not immediately clear what narcotic was ingested by the woman — believed to be in her 40s, and the man, believed to be in his 30s. Delray Beach Police confirmed our information late Tuesday afternoon and added that the woman had officially overdosed before ending up in the swimming pool.
No charges had been filed against the man as of late Tuesday afternoon. The identity of those involved was not released.
