BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman was apparently none too pleased that the man she was watching TV with liked something he saw. That something was apparently another woman. He made a comment. And got hit.

A police report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com indicates that Theresa Staley of the 500 block of NW 39th Circle was watching tv with an unidentified man.

“The victim,” wrote an investigating officer, “made a comment about a female on the TV and a verbal argument between the victim and defendant ensued. To de-escalate the situation, the victim went to bed. (But) the victim advised that while he was sleeping, Staley came into the room and started to kick and slap him in the face. I did observe the victim with a dry blood mark on his lower lip.”

The victim apparently called the police but ultimately was disinterested in pursuing charges. However, when you call the police for an alleged domestic battery, someone almost always gets arrested. In this case, police tried to speak with Staley but she couldn’t be found — and didn’t answer her phone. Later, however, police made contact and placed her under arrest.

Theresa Staley was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail just before midnight Tuesday night. She was released on her own recognizance around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday. A court date is pending.
