BOCA RATON TERM LENGTH CHANGE FAILS… TURNOUT VERY LOW COUNTYWIDE.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The “unofficial” results are in from Tuesday’s municipal elections are now in from the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections. The following is accurate as of 5:20 a.m. Wednesday. We note that turnout was exceptionally low. In almost all cases, vote counts were in the hundreds. Voter turnout was roughly twelve percent.
City Commissioner District 2 Boynton Beach: Winner: Mack McCray with 42 percent of the vote. He beats Woodrow L. Hay with 36.24 percent of the vote.
City Commissioner District 4 Boynton Beach: Aimee Kelley wins with 64.5 percent of the vote, beating Tom Ramiccio with 26.26 percent.
Commissioner Seat 4 for Delray Beach: Angela Burns wins with 51.57 percent of the vote, beating Angie Gray with 48.43 percent of the vote. A total of 6,803 votes were cast in this race.
Commissioner Highland Beach: Don Peters wins with 53.43 percent of the vote, beating John Shoemaker who logged 46.57 percent. In a second race, Judith Goldberg notched a win with 51 percent of the vote, beating Maggie Chappelear who recorded 30 percent.
IN BOCA RATON, a measure to increase the term of future city council members — and the mayor — to four years failed. 3,941 people voted against the measure, while 2,709 voted for the measure.
